“ Our server was enthusiastic and funny! His animated explanation of the menu items was very convincing. We had the chilaquiles and a short stack of pancakes combo. It was a ton of food! Good sized portions, friendly staff, feels like a place where a lot of regulars go. Took a little bit between ordering and receiving food then getting the bill, but we were busy talking so time went by quick. ”
“ I know I just posted a review, but we came back the next day for breakfast and wow they are consistent! Our waiter Arturo remembered us from the previous day and kept the same energetic attitude. They were quick with our drinks and orders. The steak was so good that my mom and I ordered it again! She also tried their homemade banana muffin and said it was delicious! I can definitely see why so many people come to this place. All the staff is so nice and quick. The food is honestly the best food we've had and honestly my family even thought about moving to San Diego just based off of this restaurant this is a place you definitely have to go to and is now our go to stop when we come visit! ”
“ Besides the obvious benefits of playing Pickleball such as staying healthy, being fit, and having a fun time, I enjoy Pickleball because of the social aspect of playing the sport. My best friend and I have a pact to meet up for Pickleball on Sunday mornings if I'm visiting my in-laws during the weekend. Today was one of those Sundays and after losing every match we played, we decided to eat breakfast at Franco's Flapjack Family Restaurant. It was a blessing to fellowship and catch up with my best friend of 44+ years. I'd give Franco's 3.5 stars for the amount of food you get and good customer service, but it was okay when it comes to taste. Franco's is located in South San Diego specifically in Bonita, CA. The best way to get to the restaurant is off the 805 freeway, exit off of E. Street, and head east. It can be found in an outdoor strip mall where you can also find JJ's Island Grindz, House of Nine Dragons Chinese Cuisine, Chief's Da Crab Shack, Fresheria, Andale, and Colima's Mexican Food. It's across from the Bonita Golf Course and it's just down the road from Glen Abbey Mortuary. It's a busy restaurant with plenty of parking. There is table, booth, bar top, and outdoor seating. Plenty of natural sunlight, yellow and blue colors, and I liked the food verbiage accents throughout the restaurant. The customer service was friendly, but you actually had to ask for refills if you order a drink. My parents, my brother, and my brother's family have invited me to eat with them at Franco's on multiple occasions, but I was never able to meet them. My brother spoke positively about Franco's, which is why I suggested to my buddy that we eat here after Pickleball. Many of the breakfast spots I've eaten at, my gauge to determine if a restaurant serves memorable food is to order biscuits and gravy and pancakes. I ordered a full order of biscuits and gravy and made it a combo, which means for an additional charge, you get three eggs any style and your choice of two strips of bacon, two sausage links, one patty sausage, or one Italian sausage. I also ordered a side of pancakes. A strong positive about Franco's food is the large amount of food they serve. The biscuits and gravy were significant, thick, and were drenched in gravy. The eggs were what you'd expect and the sausage links I ordered were hearty and probably was the best thing I ordered. I had to season the biscuits and gravy with salt and pepper and liberally used Cholula hot sauce because they lacked taste. They definitely weren't the best I've eaten. The side of pancakes weren't fluffy and slightly overcooked. Honestly, Denny's pancakes are soooo much better. I truly enjoy playing Pickleball because this sport has allowed my family to do something that we all enjoy and it has allowed my best friend and I to play a sport that gets our competitive juices flowing like when we played basketball together for more than four decades. The sport also allows us to get together to catch up. I'll definitely give Franco's another chance to try their other menu choices. ”
“ They have an extensive menu mainly for breakfast but also serve lunch entrees. Franco's Flipjack's Restaurant is a family owned restaurant in Bonita, CA. I ordered only sides- a side of French Toast & a side of Hash Browns. Both were good. The French Toast actually was a decent size which could've been enough to fill me up. Although, I also felt like eating some hash browns. First time that I visited this eatery and I can see myself being a repeat customer. ”
“ I love Franco's! Personally, this is my favorite breakfast joint in the neighborhood. Everytime we go, we are never disappointed. We always come out full and happy and know we'll be back again! This place is located on Bonita Road, near Dollar Tree and right next to JJ Island Grindz. Parking is plentiful there. If you can't find spots right in front, scoot over a little to the bigger lot and you're bound to find something. The restaurant itself is cozy and it's one of those breakfast joints that feel like home. There's a good amount of seating both indoors and outdoors. There's also enough space for you to sit and wait if you're on the waitlist. Service is great. Never had an issue for all the times we went with staff. All staff are friendly and I feel like they do a good job trying to get to know the loac crowd. Staff is patient and constantly checking on you. They're super helpful and always greet you with a smile. Food mever disappoints! Portions are huge and flavorful. Bacon strips are those thicker ones and they're always cooked just right. Hash browns hit the spot and are just the right amount of crispy. But I seriously enjoyed the chilaquiles. Portion was HUGE. The spice was just right and lots of flavor. Overall, the price for the food is not too bad either. I personally think you definitely are getting what you pay for. I definitely suggest going to Franco's if you're looking for a breakfast joint. Local or not, this place will definitely hit the spot for some good, homey breakfast foods. I'm all for supporting small businesses and this one deserves the love. ”
